What Are 360 Videos? Your Video Production?

Posted April 21, 2022 No Comments

Videographers might not be familiar with what 360 videos is, but they have likely seen it before.

It’s the type of spherical video that surrounds your entire view and captures every direction at once.

The technology behind this kind of footage has been around for years, but recent advances to smartphones and VR headsets have made this form of recording easier than ever.

What Is 360 Video?

Recording 360-degree videos can be tricky – if you do not use the right equipment, your camera may have blind spots that cannot be seen in the final product.

This is accomplished by recording the video with multiple cameras and stitching it together.

It’s possible to look up and down at once with 360 video. There are many different ways that people can take 360 videos – by using specialized equipment or just their phone camera.

It can be watched on any device and is used in VR (virtual reality) headsets to allow the viewer to explore or experience the content as if they are there.

But what exactly does this mean? How does it work? Let’s find out!

360 Video Formats

There are many different formats for 360 video ranging from mono to stereo to multi-camera setups.

The most popular type of camera used for 360 videos is an omnidirectional rig (ODR).

How To Watch 360 Degree Video?

Do you want to watch 360 degree video?

Watching a 360-degree video is not the same as watching normal videos on your phone. You need to use VR glasses or download an app that allows you to watch it on your TV screen.

In order for these types of videos to work properly, viewers need to download a special app that allows them access.

If you don’t have either of these, then the next best thing would be googling “360-degree video player” and finding one that works for you.

Why Should I Be Interested In 360° Video Now?

360° cameras are now more affordable than ever and the quality of footage is better than in previous years.

They’re a great way to capture memories, preserve moments that take place away from our screens, or even for those who want to be able to share their life with friends and family all over the world.

Since the beginning of time, humans have been in pursuit of knowledge. As technology has advanced, we have found ourselves with greater access to this knowledge.

This surge in information is now happening exponentially and at a blistering pace—so much so that people are struggling to keep up with what’s happening around them.

The 360° is an immersive video format that has been around for a few years. However, it’s just now gaining popularity with the release of affordable 360° cameras and VR headsets to make viewing these videos more user-friendly.

You can shoot them on your phone or use a device like Ricoh Theta which is small enough to bring anywhere you want! They’re perfect for travel, vacations, concerts and even weddings.

This type of content is perfect for advertising products as it makes viewers feel like they’re experiencing them firsthand with no barriers between themselves and whatever is being shown on screen.

It also has other potential uses such as showing off an event or venue before it opens its doors to guests.

Publishing Your 360° Video Content

It is time to start publishing your 360° content. The days of just posting a video and leaving it there are over, so I’ve compiled some tips for you to get started.

-Plan out the weeks ahead and post on specific days or topics in order to build up an audience  -Use hashtags like #360Video or #VRVideo in order to reach a

wider audience -Engage with your viewers by asking questions and having fun with them via social media such as Facebook Live or Instagram Live!

The way you create and publish your 360° content is just as important as the quality of the photos.

If your images are poorly edited, there will be a lot more work to do in post-production which can lead to less than stellar results.

It’s best to use high-quality editing software such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom for raw photo editing and then enhance them with other digital tools like filters, textures, overlays, etc.

Stitching 360° Video

It might be hard to find videos like this, but they are out there.

I’ve been learning about stitching and how it can make these videos possible. In the past few months, I have come across more interesting articles on stitching and learned new things with every one of them.

How can you stitch a 360° video? How do you create an immersive experience for the viewer? These are questions that we will answer in this post. We will go through the steps of stitching, what gear to use, and how to edit your footage so it’s seamless.

If you’re into filmmaking, then 360° video is a must. This article will help you understand the basics of stitching and offer some tips on how to make it work for your next project.

What if you could stitch together images and video from all 360° around you? That is the idea behind stitching.

This blog post will go over what stitching is and how it works as well as some of the different uses for stitching.

There are many different types of videos to choose from, but some people have had trouble figuring out how to watch them in VR mode.

businesses looking to reach their target audience with innovative content strategies.

Using Video Effectively In Your COVID-19 Video Marketing Strategy

Posted July 24, 2020 No Comments

Making headway on your digital marketing strategy should be a priority for businesses right now. Studies show over 80% of consumers have consumed more video content since the coronavirus outbreak than at any time over the past 2 years. This proves video is what is needed! It’s estimated that by 2022, 82% of all content creation online will be video. So why don’t we all take the time to get a head start on our video marketing strategies? Our video production company can help if you want to jump straight in!

Over lockdown we attended a multitude of online events and those who effectively used video and video marketing techniques immediately stood out. A couple of great examples were Microsoft’s Biz Apps Summit and IBM’s Think 2020. These events used a lot, and we mean a lot of video, both approached it a little bit differently, the incorporation of an engaging video strategy made hours of content consumption more consumable. Customers are hungry for content, they have time to digest it, and they’re in a safe space like their homes and they are free to consume at will.

Many companies are focusing on digital as a substitute for the traditional face-to-face event, there’s an opportunity here to turn towards video as a means to better customer engagement, communication and retention during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have given you a few ways to incorporate video into your marketing strategy during this time of lockdown. We are finding ways to thrive!

Make Your Goals Clear

Just because we see video as being hugely popular, that doesn’t mean it will always be a successful tool. A study revealed that 45% of marketing teams have paused or stopped a video campaign midway in 2020. Crazy! This is probably because they hadn’t established a clear goal for their business. To make sure your video achieves the results you wish for, take time before you create video content to determine what your aims truly are. Do you just want engagement with your video? Do you want to retain or inform current customers? Do you want to share some information about what your business is doing? We have some great video for business examples! Make your goals translate into video before you even launch your video marketing campaign out of the door! Oh and be realistic. Consumer demand is currently at an all-time low. Change your expectations about what the consumer wants and what they are able to give your business during this time.

Make Video Marketing Content that’s useful.

Consumers are being inundated with video content right now. Everyone seems to want to tell their customers what they’re up to during the COVID-19 crisis. Which is a good strategy. However, research shows that 43% of consumers now think the COVID-19 messaging they are receiving on their newsfeeds and inbox is way too similar. Businesses appear to be copying and pasting the “we’re doing everything we can” and “we will be back to normal” messages. Even our video production company has produced this similar content! https://modusfilm.com/blog/thetimewestoppedcoronavirus/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQSRvYk2C0Q

If we are to be serious though, speaking from the heart and differentiating ourselves amidst the traffic would seem like the ideal second option. A post on Facebook came up the other day that said “Advertising before Coronavirus: Look at all these features”.  It then listed: buy a <insert product name here>. A similar add said “Advertising during Coronavirus: We care about you now look at all these features”: why not buy a <insert same brand/product here>.

The question to ask is how can you change that advert? Make sure there is true purpose in your communication. Beyond having a business goal, your video or videos need to be giving something back to the customer. Digital is about the customer experience and your video marketing strategy needs to be pumped full. If the content is serving you alone and your video for business is just that, rather than the customer, you are going to be frustrating people to no end. Make the way to engage, uplifting, and supportive, or don’t send it, simple as that.

Authenticity

Video is the most likely medium to go viral and the only way to create that type of content is to be authentic. What is your brand or business personality? Oreo’s Stay Home, Stay Playful ad (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcFSiBJ-bdA) is so genuine it’s heartwarming.  Plus it made us fancy a pack the same goes for Facebooks own ad campaign which again tugs at the heartstrings. Now, these reactions weren’t a big surprise which came from these two big brands. These videos were made without directly calling out their products and took minimum budget.

These companies have huge pockets and probably big advertising teams, the lesson to take away is how they used their message. How can a business use video marketing and authentic voice to create videos consumers don’t just watch, but purposely search for and share?

Video marketing on a budget

So you are not Budweiser or Oreo, if you are then please do bring us into the fold? www.modusfilm.com. If like many people, you are facing budget restraints or maybe you had to follow Google’s lead and cut your marketing spend for the rest of the year. As a business or brand, you need to realise: the marketing investments you make right now may not pay off in terms of sales. Hard truth so keep your budget in mind. Don’t hire actors or extras, use real people who are at your disposal. Grab some Insta-stories. Film on your phone and use software like iMovie to edit. Better still hire our services. Point being: even though they are effective videos, they may not bring the sales you want. So, invest in a video strategy smartly. Our top tip is to keep your marketing alive and stay in the customers mind as much as possible!

Mobile is King!

During the stay at home period, some 55% of people are getting their news using their mobile phones. This figure does not include the many millions of people scrolling through their newsfeeds on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and even TikTok. Make sure your video content is mobile friendly as much as possible. Consider the platform you will upload it too. For instance, YouTube does have some benefits. Its search is integrated across both Google and itself. You get double the search power for the content you upload in this way. Details like this make a huge impact when you are trying to make the most of your tight budget.

The Last and probably important thing to take note of is the world around you. The videos going viral during this time are the ones that bring people hope, information, and joy. Theses are videos of doctors calming people, people singing from balconies. Even demonstrations of children teaching us how to wear gloves properly. People want information and support. If your company’s marketing videos and video marketing strategy can provide that in an authentic way. Well you’ll be on to a winner.

How to use Facebook Live Video

How To Use Facebook Live in Video Marketing?

Posted July 16, 2020 No Comments

Live stream videos are a great way for businesses to engage with their audiences all thanks to platforms like Facebook, you really don’t need too many tools or knowledge to get in front of customers. This is the perfect addition to any video marketing strategy and the team at our video production company tells all.

All you need is a Facebook profile, a mobile with a camera (we recommend Apple iPhones obviously), and in two clicks you are talking directly to consumers and bringing them video content in real-time! There is an art to Facebook live video streaming, and if you want to do it well you need to first think about how to use it as part of your overall video marketing strategy.

In this blog, we’ll take a closer look at Facebook live streaming and see what it can really do for businesses and your ROI.

#TurnerPrize19 Facebook Live highlights

So why Facebook Stream and Why Do We Rave About It?

Recently, marketers have been focusing on video content as a key way to connect with an audience, engaging with them, and promoting brand awareness and boosting conversions. When a picture’s worth a thousand words video must be priceless in terms of social media marketing.

In place of traditional video content, you have video live stream. This is where a brand, influencer, or even a regular person goes live in front of their social media audience. There are many different arguments as to why this is good, and we’ll cover them all.

As for actual, identifiable results, Facebook live streams or live broadcasts can:

If connecting with your audience is a top priority for your business, then a Facebook live video might be the way to go. As with other posts and content, just having a live stream every now and then won’t exactly bring you the results. Facebook live videos need to be planned and integrated into a wider video marketing strategy. Our video production company can support you if this is something you think your business will benefit from? We can also help you understand engagement and ROI in more detail here. Check out our TikTok guide.

How Does It All Work?

Let’s get technical and see how you can go live in front of your audience. Facebook allows you to go live in just a few seconds by tapping on a few simple links.

First, go to your Facebook page where you want the live stream to happen. You’ll need to do this through one of your mobile devices using the Facebook app, desktop versions don’t have this feature.

Go to the ‘create a post’ section, click it, and you’ll see a lot of options like photos, videos, polls, and live video. After you select it, you’ll need to give Facebook access to your camera and microphone allowing it to fully use the device for the live stream or live broadcast.

That’s it although you will want to use some of these other great features this service offers, such as:

Once live, your followers will start seeing the video on their news feeds, and some may even get a notification if they are following your page. You can start a live video on your personal profile page, which will be visible to your closer circle of friends if you just want to test out the feature first.

What Can You Use Live Streaming for?

If you want to integrate a Facebook live video into your video marketing or digital strategy but aren’t exactly sure if it would benefit your business, look no further. Let’s now look at some of the different opportunities Facebook live broadcasts bring to the table:

1. Connecting with your Audience

Live videos are the perfect way to get closer to the audience and show them the people behind the brand or business. The whole point of social media is to give a human dimension to brands and businesses and at some point that stops working if you we post only a load of links and cute photos of kittens.

With a Facebook live video, you can take audiences behind the scenes of your business and present the amazing team that helps make the day to day happen. For instance, let’s say you have a small business where you sell handmade cloth bags, personalised for each customer. How much more value does seeing the faces of those makers give to the client. We’d say loads!

Why not take audiences on a journey behind the scenes and show them who’s working on the bags? Let them present themselves and say 2-3 things about themselves. Film them in action, and teach the audience something about the entire process. This could be a 20-minute live video that manages to:

Create the feeling that buying from your business is a good idea because a potential customer knows exactly how the product is made.

2. Live Q&A’s

Customers may have a ton of questions about your brand/business, a campaign, the products, and even services. In today’s digital world, people can send queries directly to their favourite brands on social media using private messages or in the comment section.

Consumers may have the same questions, which is why it’s a good idea to organise a live Q&A. Put these questions into the spotlight and answer them. This is a good digital strategy because if you tell audiences you’ll be doing a live Q&A, they will come to it with the explicit intent of asking questions or actively listening to you to find out even more. If you don’t have time to answer everything in the video, respond to comments when you can on your page in a post. Facebook will save the live video and all its engagements so you’ll never have to answer the same question twice.

3. Make Important Announcements On Facebook Live!

Facebook’s algorithm favours live videos more than other content, so its more likely to be seen in news feeds. This works well for announcements because it means you can generate more excitement around your announcements. If you are launching a new product, adding additional services, or just want to shout at people. This could be a good platform for your business.

4. Organise Your Events

Show events that some audiences can’t attend. If you’re doing a talk at 2am or have limited space you can offer audiences to watch via the Facebook app.

Our video production company offers live streaming services which we can do across multiple camera setups. See our video marketing services if you require more information.

Things to Consider Before Going Totally Live

Our video marketing agency knows the secret to deliver a Live broadcast. You need a live stream that appears organic, natural, and improvised, it all comes down to preparation. If you watch a live video, you don’t see all the work that goes into it, so consider some areas:

1. Internet Connection

Live videos need a good internet connection. If connection keeps dropping out, or you don’t have good signal, it will affect the quality of the live stream as well as the user experience.

A bad internet connection is a disaster. The live steam will keep disconnecting and a semi-bad connection will make you the pixelated man. Before going live please make sure your connection is stable.

2. What Will You Say?

Even if you want the live stream to seem organic it’s worth preparing. A few points or a bullet point list is a great place to start. Practicing in front of the camera makes perfect. Our videographers can always give you some top tips.

Consider:

3. Bring Value to Facebook Live Stream

If you’re running a live stream think about what your audience would find interesting or valuable to hear. If you want to bring real value to your audience follow that logic. Don’t do a live stream just because you can, well unless you have hundreds of thousands of followers then you have nothing to lose.

But what does Live Stream “value” mean?:

If you manage to do a Facebook live video that relates to this criteria it should be successful. The easiest way to ensure this is to consider your overall digital content strategy on social media and integrate live streaming into it to bring another dimension.
