Can I Record Wedding Videography On My Phone?

The wedding videographers and wedding filmmakers at our wedding cinematography company have revealed the best wedding venues of 2022…

Using a phone to record a wedding.

Modern phones have high quality cameras with many features that are similar to cameras used by a cinematic wedding videographer. They generally have a wide angle lens that will capture a lot of light.
For most wedding videography in well lit venues in the middle of the day this should work pretty well. I would avoid using the zoom function as this will degrade the quality of the image. This won’t be so noticeable on a small screen but will be very evident if viewed on a large screen. To find out more about wedding videography look here.

Where the camera lens falls down is that the lens itself is tiny by comparison so doesn’t capture much light in low light situations. A mirrorless camera with a prime lens capable of a wide aperture of F2.8 or wider will outperform most phone cameras just because of optics and the width of the glass being able to let in more light.

Most camera phones have face recognition so should focus well on the main subjects, the bride and groom.

The biggest thing to avoid doing is to hold the phone in portrait mode. This will look fine on a phone held in portrait mode but on any other screen such as a laptop or desktop computer the image will be cut off at the sides. You see this happen all the time on the news when people film things happening on the street without thinking how that’s going to look on TV. Hold the phone in landscape mode whilst you film. For more information on whther u should film ur wedding yourself or hire a professional wedding videographer click here.

Storage.

My iPhone has 128GB of storage and about half of that storage is free so that should be more than adequate. I typically have two 64GB cards loaded into my Lumix S5 and they rarely get filled up.

Battery life.

I always carry spare batteries for my cameras and charge up batteries when one is swapped out. This is a bit tricky with a phone. You could use two phones I suppose or when you take a break you could charge up your phone again from a portable charger.

Audio.

I have not tested this out but I suspect that the microphones on phones are not directional or as high quality as some camera microphones. Your best option will be to get as close as you possibly can to the subject doing the talking or record audio on another device. During the speeches a second phone lying on the top table in front of the speakers would work I think.

Editing and video production

I’ve seen many people filming on phones at weddings but I’ve yet to learn what they did when they got home with the video clips.
If it’s the odd short clip then obviously that can easily be shared on social media. If a cinematic wedding videographer is filming the whole wedding with the intention of bringing it all together as one continuous film, having first edited out any errors, shortened some of the clips that are too long and possibly added music tracks then this requires some upfront planning and research into how this can be achieved.
Using a cinematic wedding videographer video camera that records to an SD card makes the whole process much easier. I can then load all my clips onto an external SSD drive attached to my Mac. It can take an hour or more for me to load all the clips into Final Cut Pro, a couple of days to edit the footage then another couple of hours to compress the final video and load it onto a USB stick for delivery to my client. How that process would look if I was trying to do it all on a phone I don’t know but I suspect that it would be long winded.

If I was in that position I think I would find a way to get the clips off my phone onto an SD card (I know there are adapters that can attach an SD card to a phone). I would then proceed with my normal editing process on a Mac.

Iphone options

Another option on an iPhone might be to load clips into iMovie from where they can be shared to Dropbox but I suspect that large clips will take a while to process by this method even on a modern iPhone. From Dropbox it would be possible to import media into a Final Cut Pro project for further editing.

The main point of this rambling piece is that it all involves some thought, planning and testing of the approach well before you agree to film a whole event on your phone.

If I was sat in a wedding and the cinematic wedding videographer didn’t show up and I was asked if I could film it instead then I would give it a go, on my phone if I had to, but I would probably have a small camera with me anyway. The Sony RX100 is not much bigger than a phone and can do a reasonable job filming a wedding and writes to an SD card for easy editing/video production. So if only for the editing and video production process using a purpose built camera is preferable.

Having said that there is a saying amongst photographers and videographers that says ‘the best camera you have is the one you have with you’. You use what you can to get what you need.

Should You DIY Your Wedding Video or Hire a Professional?

Posted December 23, 2023 No Comments

The wedding filmmakers and cinematic wedding videographers at our wedding videography company reveal the most popular wedding video trends.

Your wedding videography day is one of the most important and memorable days of your life, and capturing those precious moments is an absolute must. But the question is, should you DIY your wedding video or hire a professional? While it may seem like a good idea to save money by doing it yourself, it’s important to consider the benefits of hiring a professional.

Professional vs. DIY Wedding Videography: Which is Right for You?

Deciding between professional and DIY wedding videography can be a daunting task. But with the right information, you can make a decision that will ensure that your wedding video captures all the special moments of your big day. Below, we will explore the pros and cons of both professional and DIY wedding videography so that you can decide which is right for you!

DIY Wedding Video: Pros & Cons

So you’re getting married, congrats! Now comes the fun part — planning the wedding. And what’s more fun than DIY-ing your own wedding video, right? Well, before you grab your iPhone and start filming, let’s weigh the pros and cons of this DIY approach.

Pros

First up, the pros. DIY-ing your wedding video can save you a lot of cash. Professional videographers can cost thousands of dollars. By filming and editing the video yourself, you’ll be able to allocate that money towards more important things — like your honeymoon.

Another pro is that you’ll have complete creative control over the final product. You can film whatever you want, however you want, without having to worry about a videographer not capturing your artistic vision.

Cons

But let’s not forget the cons. DIY-ing your wedding videography means you’ll be doing a lot of work. Like, a lot. Filming, editing, and piecing together a cohesive story takes time and effort. You’ll also need to invest in some equipment, like a good camera and editing software. And if you mess up a shot or forget to hit record during a key moment, there’s no going back. You also run the risk of capturing poor-quality footage that you won’t be happy with.

Another con is that you’ll be missing out on a professional’s expertise. A good videographer knows how to capture the right angles, lighting, and audio to make your wedding video look and sound amazing. They also have experience with editing and storytelling, which can make all the difference in the final product.

Professional Wedding Video: Pros & Cons

A professional video is like the cherry on top of the wedding cake — you know it’s not necessary, but it sure makes everything look better. But is it worth the expense? Let’s break down the pros and cons.

Pros

On the pro side, you’ll have a beautifully edited video of your special day that you can watch for years to come. It’s a great way to relive the memories, and it’s especially nice for those who couldn’t attend the wedding. Plus, a professional videographer will capture all the little details that you might have missed in the whirlwind of the day.

A professional wedding videographer has the experience and expertise to capture every moment of your special day in the best possible way. They know how to use the right equipment, lighting, and angles to create a stunning video that you will cherish forever. They also have the skills to edit and enhance the footage to make it look even better.

Cons

However, on the con side, wedding videos can be expensive. You might be looking at several thousand dollars for a high-quality video. And let’s be honest; not everyone wants to watch a two-hour video of your wedding. You might find yourself fast-forwarding through some parts.

At Reverent Wedding Films, we have videography packages to fit every budget. We also offer various types of wedding films, from highlight videos and social media teasers to full documentaries and feature films.

Capture Your Special Day with Reverent Wedding Films

So, there you have it — the pros and cons of DIY-ing your wedding video. Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide if the savings and creative control outweigh the time and effort required. Just don’t forget to assign someone else to film the ceremony while you’re saying, “I do.”

While it may seem tempting to save money by filming your own wedding video, hiring a professional is the best way to ensure that your special day is captured in the most beautiful and memorable way possible. So, sit back, relax, and let the professionals handle it while you enjoy your wedding day to the fullest!

Magical Winter Wedding Venues For Wedding Videography

Posted December 16, 2023 No Comments

From castles to country estates, these five venues offer everything you could possibly need for a magical winter wedding and amazing wedding videography.

Winter weddings are becoming increasingly popular, especially among couples looking for an alternative to summer nuptials. It’s a cosy time of the year and also has the bonus of having Christmas slap bang in the middle, which can make for a really unique winter wedding, wedding films and even create the best wedding videography.

Reasons To Love A Winter Wedding

best wedding videography

In our heads, a winter wedding is set against a backdrop of magical snowfall, like something you’d see in a cheesy Christmas movie. Sadly, the likelihood of that happening in the UK is slim, however, there are lots of other reasons why you might plump for a winter wedding to create the best wedding videography.

It’s cheaper: Yes, we know budgets aren’t romantic, but with the costs of weddings soaring these days – the average UK wedding comes in at just over £17,000 – a winter wedding can save you pounds. For many establishments, the winter time is their out of season period so you’ll be able to afford a venue that perhaps you couldn’t in the summer.

There’s more choice: With less weddings happening during this time, there will not only be more choice for when to get married, but also which wedding suppliers to work with.

There’s no need to worry about the weather: There’s none of that ‘will it rain’ stress you get with UK summer weddings. Everything will be happening inside, so who cares if it pours?

Winter-appropriate wedding dresses: Sequins, feathers and faux fur are all brilliant for winter weddings and just think how glam you’ll look on your big day. It’s also the perfect time of year if you want to throw a black-tie wedding. Our toppers are the perfect way to add a little extra something to your slinky wedding dress.

A Festive Twist

If you get married in December, you’ll get the added bonus of festive decorations, which will look fabulous in your wedding films. You can also order festive food and have some Christmas tunes played at your reception. Mariah warbling all she wants for Christmas has got to be a bonus, right?

There’s no wedding fatigue: Your guests will have had a break from all the spring and summer weddings and will be ready to celebrate your wedding with enthusiasm come the winter months!

No sweat: Literally! While hot days are great for photos, they’re not so great for the sweat. Getting wed while it’s cooler means you don’t have to worry about that one bit.

So, you’ve decided upon that winter wedding, here are five great places to hold your winter wedding in the UK.

The Hollywood choice: Wrotham Park, Hertfordshire

Fancy a winter wedding videography with extra glam? Then this beautiful location is a must. Having been used as a location for the likes of Bridget Jones’ Diary, Bridgerton and Gosford Park, it’s a great choice for movie-loving brides and grooms.

The Seaside One: East Quay Venue, Kent

If a cosy winter wedding by the sea is what you’re dreaming of, then East Quay could be the one you’re looking for. This licensed wedding venue is situated directly in Whitstable Harbour with sea views. A former Oyster House, it’s a relaxed wedding venue, which could easily be transformed for a winter wedding.

The Nature one: Marshwood Manor, Dorset

If you love being in nature, this is the winter wedding venue for you. It has both indoor and outdoor spaces to allow you to have a truly romantic day in your very own winter woodland. Think Narnia, minus the talking lion…

The brick haybarn, with vaulted ceilings and natural wood panelling, will make the perfect backdrop to your big day. There’s also luxury accommodation onsite.

The Christmas wedding venue Holkham Hall, Norfolk

A timelessly elegant venue, Holkham Hall has a variety of places to hold your big day celebrations, from Marble Hall to St. Withburga’s Church. The Marble Hall provides the most Instagrammable photos, thanks to the impressive domed celling and blush marble pillars.

This 18th century mansion is also big on the festive season with a Christmas tree shop and candlelight tours, so will make the perfect backdrop to any Christmas wedding.

The glitzy one: L’Oscar Hotel, London

If you want to vamp up the glamour, this is the place to do it. The opulent décor including jewel tones, rich velvet, and extravagant chandeliers is just perfect for a city winter wedding. The Baptist, which is a former Grade II listed chapel, comes complete with a lit-up dome roof, dance floor and bar.

How To Deliver A Great Best Man Speech, Wedding Videography

Posted November 14, 2023 No Comments
wedding videography
wedding speech

The best man wedding speech is a huge part of the wedding videography so make sure yours is memorable. There are many areas to think about while preparing your speech; who is in the audience, how big is the audience, how long should the speech be, should I be telling jokes and so on.

Below we’ve listed essential best man speech tips on dealing with these questions and guidelines you can use to write your own speech.

Essential best man speaking tips

Do your homework and plenty of practice

Being prepared is the key to any successful wedding speech. Write down bullet points of you key message, jokes, quotes etc. Spend time revising the content of your speech using different tips from our blog, adding in literary techniques, noting tactical pauses and best ways to end a speech.

Once the wedding speech is written, spend hours practising it, the more you practise the less nervous you will be and the more natural you will sound. Don’t learn your speech off by heart, learn some key points and improvise around them. This will make you sound less wooden and monotonic.

Open by expressing gratitude

Thank the ones that made the day possible, the happy couple’s parents (single them out by name) and offer a toast to them for raising two fine people. Don’t forget to thank the audience as well. It’s a good idea to say something about how beautiful the bride looks and what a remarkable woman she is – this is guaranteed to go down well with everyone.

Introduce yourself to everyone

Many people at the wedding won’t know who you are. Briefly say who you are and why you’re such good friends with the groom.

Speak confidently and clearly

You know the groom better than most, so take the chance to introduce the real him to everyone. Talk slowly and clearly, taking time to pause and take deep breaths. Have a glass of water you can sip on during the wedding speech, to help calm the nerves and break up the speech.

Get a joke in early

Getting a joke in early will help relax the mood. Spend time preparing the right joke – funny but not offensive, something that will appeal across all age groups, and make sure you learn it by heart.

Self-deprecation can go a long way, so it might be something told at your own expense. The audience will expect the speech to be somewhat funny so starting strongly will help engaging the audience.

Tell a story

Every great man speech includes a story, which could be how you met the bridegroom or a funny incident which you both went through. You can also tell a story about when you realised your friend had found his other half, or about when your friend would complain about being single for so long. Tread carefully when telling these and don’t cross the line with them!

Stay away from controversial topics

Anything embarrassing or offensive should be avoided by all means. Although this is common sense, once you get up there with a mic in front of you and a crowd waiting to see what you have to say, the situation might be so tense that cracking a crude joke or sharing an embarrassing story may seem perfect to lighten the mood. You’ll be left with a frozen audience that doesn’t want to laugh at the expense of the bridegroom.

Best to avoid past relationships

Try to avoid talking about the groom’s past relationships or reveal what you thought of the bride when you first laid eyes on her. Winking at the bride with comments such as “looking forward to the honeymoon” is absolutely out of the question when writing your best man speech!

Keep it short

Ideally, a best man’s wedding speech should be no more than 1,000 words. The guests have already listened to the bride’s father and maid of honour speeches and are minutes away from eating the cake, so shoot for five minutes tops.

Summarise your friend’s good character

After the bulk of your speech, make sure you list the essential qualities of the groom which you have discovered over the years. You want the audience to think you’re a nice guy and convince the bride she picked the right man to marry!

End with a quote

Wrap everything you have said up nicely by ending with a quote, such as: “Giving a best man speech is a choice. And, these two people have clearly chosen!”

Propose a toast

It’s time to raise your glass and toast for a lifetime of happiness and love for the couple… or something to this effect.

Use these best man speech tips to deliver a powerful wedding speech people will remember for a very long time.

Best Man Speech – things to avoid

How to write a Best Man Speech – detailed guide

The Opening

Like any form of public speaking, you need to have your audience on side right from the beginning. Be confident. After all, you know the groom better than most in the room and your best man speech is the perfect chance to introduce him to everybody else!

The main section of the speech

The important thing to remember is that the speech is not about you but the groom. Therefore, it’s okay if your best man speech paints a picture of your relationship with the groom but you need to concentrate on what a great guy he is, so everything you say has to revolve around that.

Be pleasant and nice and give your best man speech a flow. Every section and paragraph should run smoothly, jokes should be brief, and each story (you could also include other friends’ favourite memories, too) should reveal some more of the groom’s character and life.

The conclusion to the speech

So, by now you will have used all the funny stories and are ready to wow your audience with something emotional. You can say something about love and philosophise a little. It is also a good time to emphasise the love story of the bridegroom.

End your speech by saying how they complete eachother and how happy you know one will make the other. Your end to the best man speech should be as noteworthy as your opening comments so don’t fade away.

How META Augmented Reality Glasses Will Reshape Marketing Content

Posted October 30, 2023 No Comments
marketing content
videos for business

Augmented reality has been used in isolated applications for decades, but the technologies needed to fully realize its potential have recently become available. At its core, augmented reality (AR) transforms a large amount of information and analytics into images or animations that are superimposed on the real world. Most AR applications are delivered via mobile devices, but delivery will be increasingly shifted to hands-free wearables such as augmented reality glasses. Augmented reality glasses can be used in videos for business settings by marketing content and marketers in different ways.

What Are Augmented Reality Glasses?

Augmented reality glasses bring the digital and physical worlds together. They are distinctive in a way that they can project a digital overlay directly into a user’s field of vision without requiring them to do anything. AR glasses project digital information onto the user’s field of vision to help them interact in real life.

Augmented Reality Glasses In Marketing Content

AR glasses provide a significant opportunity for marketers to explore different marketing strategies. “By leveraging technologies that allow marketers to control reality rather than perception, marketers can position their products in the best light possible,” said by Kolsky. In this era of technological advancement where people have the freedom to engage with the brands the way they want, Kolsky believes “Augmented reality is a great tool if it is properly used can be the best friend for the marketers.” AR glasses will be powerful tech which will have a significant influence on the way marketing research is conducted and the marketing content strategies. The AR glasses will enable marketers to access real-time information to make instant decisions.

Data Collection Through Augmented Reality Glasses

Augmented reality glasses can gather multiple types of data which can be used by marketers to understand their target market and create a unique consumer experience. The AR glasses will have inbuilt cameras on the outer and the inner side of the glasses. The emotions of the user can be comprehended by eye expressions as they will signal the emotional state of the user. The movement of the eyeball can be captured which can provide useful information regarding eyeball movement behaviour. Eye movements are interesting in relation to advertising and more broadly because they provide useful information about patterns of visual attention. The surrounding environment of the user can be captured by the outer camera which will provide information about the user’s view like areas they will pass by, the billboards they will see, and the brands they will visit. The connection of AR glasses with smartwatches can provide marketers with information regarding arm movement for instance the speed by which the arm is moving or whether the user is holding something in their hands. It is rumoured that Apple’s upcoming AR glasses will be able to sense the figure’s gesture through a smartwatch.  Similarly, it is alleged that the iPhone will be used for all data processing in Apple’s AR glasses. Additionally, AR glasses can provide information to marketers about user lifestyles by tracking their routine activities. AR glasses will be connected to a smartphone through which video marketing content can gather data regarding the sites visited, time spent on those sites, and search history. The inbuilt mic in the AR glasses can collect speech data that marketers can use to understand the emotions of the user and their interests.

Augmented Reality Glasses and Advertising

Augmented navigation is one of the workable uses of augmented reality glasses. AR glasses will be able to provide directions to destinations regardless of whether the user is walking, driving, or running without requiring them to open google maps on mobile phones. This real-time geospatial information can be used by marketers for pop-up advertisements of the brands nearby the specific location. These pop-up ads of the brands will be based on the recent search history of the user and their location on the following route. For example, if the user has recently searched for McDonald’s Big Mac and there is a branch of McDonald’s on the route he is taking, an ad can pop up on the AR glasses saying “Hey, Big Mac is waiting for you.” and providing the real-time information like no long ques, no wait time. To leverage the built-in mic feature of AR glasses, the user can also order a takeaway by replying to the ad without needing the user to make a call.

Augmented Reality Glasses and Shopping

AR glasses can significantly enhance the user shopping experience while also collecting data which can be used by the marketers.  AR glasses could be used in retail stores by adding special tags on the products so when the user sees the product its price will be displayed on the lenses and if there is any promotions or discounts on the specific products the user will be notified on their lenses. During shopping AR glasses will be able to collect data regarding stores visited by the user, how much time he spent at each store, and the products he looked over. The user emotions could be analyzed so the marketers can gather data such as if the user liked the product or not and whether the discount attracted the user or not. Marketers can use this information to design their promotional campaigns and to improve shopping experiences.

Augmented Reality Glasses and Customer Touch Points

There are various customer touchpoints at which marketers can improve the user experience through AR glasses. AR glasses could help advertisers show different ads to different people through billboards. Billboards will have the ability to show people personalized ads based on the user’s data collected as they look at the billboard with the lenses on. By this method advertisers will be able to show thousands of ads on the same billboard. AR glasses could be able to translate advertisements in real-time which could enable the user to understand ads which are not in their native language. For instance, if someone is using apple products, they will be shown other apple product ads on the billboard. Also, if someone has searched about apple products recently, personalized ads will be shown on the billboard according to their search history. This will help advertisers to collect data such as if the user has seen the full duration of the advertisement so in future improvements could be made. Additionally, AR glasses will be able to sense the emotional reaction toward the ad through facial reactions and eyeball movement captured by the inner camera. This will help marketers to know to which level people were able to resonate with the ad.

Augmented Reality Glasses and Voice Control

AR glasses with a voice control feature could be able to listen and analyze your speech about the products you use such as if you are complaining about a malfunctioning washing machine. Marketers could use that data to send you pop-up ads about promotions and discounts on specific washing machine brands. It will enable marketers to target the right customer with the right product.

Augmented Reality Glasses and Day-to-Day Activities

AR glasses could be used to buy groceries from supermarkets as the user can scan barcodes through lenses which will add products to the cart so the user will be able to see the total bill before checkout. Users can also check the substitute product’s prices, discounts and nutritional information by scanning barcodes through lenses. With the data collected by marketers, the users could be sent new deals, discounts and promotions about the products which are regularly scanned by the user. Based on the information regarding the products purchased by the user marketers can send notifications to them about restocking those items while informing the users of the nearby location of the store. Based on the user’s voice command AR glasses could help the user in finding the product easily by navigating the user to the aisle and sections. This will enhance the shopping experience of the customer.

AR glasses can track the user’s day-to-day activities. For instance, if a user is cooking while wearing AR glasses and they can watch cooking shows and recipes in real-time without touching any device and staying hands-free. With this information on user’s routine activities marketer will be able to send this user cooking-related ads as AR glasses would analyze the data and decides that the user prefers to cook and dine at home. This will enable marketers to gather behavioural data about the user to improve customer experience and target the right customer.

Augmented Reality glasses and lifestyle

If the user is health-conscious and has an active lifestyle. Since AR glasses will be connected to smartwatches, it will provide the user with real-time important information about their health like heart rate and blood pressure without requiring them to look over their smartphone or smartwatch. For example, the user regularly goes for outdoor activities for maintaining an active lifestyle. This will provide marketers with users’ lifestyle information like whether they go to the gym or like to run. Based on such information they will be able to target the right product to the right customer without misspending their marketing content budget. Also, this will enable marketing content to create unique customer experiences by designing a custom package according to the customer. For example, based on this information marketers can provide a digital guide for healthy food along with their main product.

5 Best Steadicams For DSLR Cameras And Film Production

Posted October 9, 2023 No Comments
wedding cinematographers, wedding filmmakers, wedding videography, film production company

Hey there, fellow filmmaking enthusiasts! Today, let’s chat about something close to my heart: finding the best Steadicam for DSLR cameras and film production company. Now, I know there’s a lot of buzz about motorized electronic gimbals like the DJI Ronin S. Sure, they’re cool and all, but trust me, the good ol’ Steadicam still holds its own, delivering some impressively natural stabilization.

Steadicam Vs. Electronic Gimbal: The Showdown

I’ve tried my hand at both electronic gimbals and Steadicams, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. High-end gimbals can give you a smooth, natural-looking stabilization, but at times they can come off a tad robotic. Enter the Steadicam, giving you that organic, fluid motion that makes your videos look oh-so-real.

My Top Three Steadicam Picks For Every Budget

Not everyone has a ton of cash to drop on camera gear. I totally get it. When I started out, my budget was tighter than a drum. So, to keep things fair, I’ve handpicked three of my favorite Steadicams from different price ranges.

Whether you’re in a hurry and just want the highlights, or you’ve got time to spare and want all the juicy details, I’ve got you covered. So, let’s jump in and find the perfect Steadicam for your DSLR camera and film production company. Trust me, your footage will thank you!

Glidecam DGS Series

A Quick Look

The Glidecam Devin Graham Signature Series is a sweet hand-held stabilizer, perfect for all you film fanatics out there. This baby’s designed to give you that buttery smooth footage, no matter how much you’re moving around.

Built Like A Tank

Now, let’s talk build quality. This Glidecam is like the superhero of camera stabilizers. It’s solid, sturdy and feels like it could survive a tumble or two (not that I’m recommending you drop it!). The materials used are top-notch, which is pretty clear when you hold it in your hands. It’s like the difference between a plastic toy and a proper action figure – one just feels way more legit.

Bang For Your Buck

Price-wise, it’s a bit of a splurge. But hey, you’re investing in your craft, right? Considering the features, the quality, and the reputation of Glidecam, I’d say it’s worth every penny.

FLYCAM HD

First Impressions

The FLYCAM Redking Quick Balancing Video Camera Stabilizer is a dream come true for all you camera buffs out there in film production company and filmmaking. It’s a slick stabilizer that’s all about keeping your footage super smooth, even when you’re on the move.

Robust And Ready To Roll

When it comes to build quality, this FLYCAM is no slouch. It’s got a robust design and it feels like it’s built to last. I mean, I didn’t go dropping it on purpose or anything, but it seems like it could handle a bit of rough and tumble. The materials? Top-notch! Holding it in your hands, you can tell it’s not some cheap knock-off.

My Stabilizer Story

Now, using this stabilizer was quite the experience. The FLYCAM Redking made my shots look like they were gliding on air. It was comfortable to use and really easy to balance, even when I was in a rush. I filmed everything from my dog chasing his tail to my cousin’s wedding, and it handled everything like a pro.

Price Tag Talk

I know, I know. Price is a big deal. But, here’s the thing. This FLYCAM Redking is priced at around $199.00. Yes, it’s not pocket change, but considering the quality, the features, and the reputation of FLYCAM, I’d say it’s pretty good value. You’re investing in your passion, right?

Zhiyun Crane 3S 30

A Pocket-Sized Powerhouse

The Zhiyun Weebill 3S Gimbal Stabilizer is like the pocket rocket of camera stabilizers. It’s compact, but don’t let its small size fool you – it’s packed with features and built to last. The build quality is superb – it feels sturdy and well-made, and it’s held up great for me, even with regular use.

My Time With The Weebill 3S

From the moment I started using the Weebill 3S, I was hooked. It made my footage look so smooth, and the different modes were perfect for all kinds of shoots. Whether I was shooting my cousin’s birthday party or getting some action shots at the local skate park, it handled everything like a dream.

Is It Worth The Price Tag?

Here’s the deal – the Zhiyun Weebill 3S isn’t exactly cheap. But when you consider the quality of the build, the variety of features, and the reputation of Zhiyun, I think it’s a great investment. This isn’t just some run-of-the-mill stabilizer. It’s a piece of high-quality filmmaking and film production company gear, and in my opinion, it’s worth every penny.

Zeadio Video Action Stabilizing Handle Grip

A Simple Solution For Shaky Shots

The Zeadio Video Action Stabilizing Handle Grip is a straightforward, no-frills solution for shaky footage. Its plastic build may not be fancy, but it’s durable and up to the task. Despite dropping it more times than I can count, it’s still in great shape and ready for filmmaking.

My Adventures With Zeadio

I’ve had this stabilizer for about six months now, and I’ve taken it everywhere – from my sister’s wedding to a weekend hiking trip. It’s lightweight and easy to carry, and it fits my Canon Rebel T6i like a glove. I’ve found that my videos look way smoother and more professional, even when I’m moving around a lot.

Bang For Your Buck?

When it comes to the Zeadio, I’d say you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck. It’s not as high-tech as some of the pricier models, but it does a solid job of stabilizing video, and the price is super affordable. Plus, Zeadio has a good reputation for making reliable filmmaking and film production company gear.

Steadicam Volt Electronic Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer

A Modern Marvel Of Stability

The Steadicam Volt is a sleek, portable device that delivers on its promise of smooth, shake-free video. Its compact, solid construction feels durable and reliable. Despite a few minor bumps and drops, it’s held up well over time, proving its resilience.

My Steadicam Stories

I’ve been using the Volt for about a year now, and it’s truly transformed my filming game. From capturing my dog’s hilarious antics to filmmaking scenic walks in the park, the Volt has made it easy for me to create smooth, professional-looking videos. It’s lightweight, easy to carry, and fits comfortably in my hand, making it a joy to use.

Worth The Investment?

When considering the price point, the Steadicam Volt offers pretty solid value. The brand has a solid reputation in the industry, and the performance and functionality of the Volt are impressive. The smooth, stable footage it produces could easily be mistaken for the work of a more expensive device.

Common Video Marketing Terms You Should Know

Common Video And Marketing Editing Terms You Need to Know

Listed are the Top 30 video marketing and editing terms you should know whether you are a professional or you are just beginning. Intertwined in this list, there are some broad video editing terms that refer to videography in kent as a whole as well as video editing terms specific to the process of editing footage.

Study up because these video editing terms are important to know!

1) Aspect Ratio

Aspect ratio relates how the width and height of your video relate to each other. Those dimensions are expressed through a ratio.

2) B-roll

B-roll gives you flexibility according to the video and marketing editing rules when editing because it is supplemental footage that makes a previously incongruent scene smooth.

B-roll can also provide more details to support the scene like in the news, wedding films, or interviews.

Say you were shooting footage of a person walking in a park and you wanted to shift into a new view of the subject. B-roll, like the image below in the park, can be inserted to make the transition easy on the eyes.

3) Bit Rate (Data Rate)

For every second in the video, the Bit Rate, or Data Rate, is the amount of data used each second. This is most commonly measured in kilobits per second (kbps). Kilobits per second can be variable or constant.

4) Close Up

Close ups are shots that frame the subject tightly.

For example, if the subject were a person, the close up would be filled with their face.

5) Color Temperature

Color Temperature is measured in the unit Kelvin and the scale ranges from cool to warm.

This video editing term refers to the visible light in a shot.

For instance, cooler color temperatures often have a bluish tint and hotter color temperatures tend to appear more red or orange.

 6) Compositing

Compositing is used often when editing footage because it is the process of combining multiple images using video editing software.

7) Compression

Compression is the process of reducing the amount of data in a video file. This makes the uploading and downloading processes for your video much quicker. While it does take time to compress your video, we recommend it because of the time you’ll save late and leave you with more storage for more videos!

8) Crop Factor

Crop factor is a number (typically from 1.3-2.0) that represents the ratio of a sensor’s imaging area to that of a full frame sensor. Try multiplying the focal length of your lens by your camera sensor’s crop factor. It will give you the focal length for the lens/sensor combination! Cool right?

9) Cut-in (Insert Shot)

Cut-in is a type of shot that most often shows the objects the subject is in contact with or manipulating. Cut-in shots are similarly helpful to b-roll because they stray from the subject for a short period of time.

10) Foley

Foley is when you reproduce and/or create sound for a film. Often times, the actual sounds of nature, chewing, etc. are not naturally captured, they are actually reproduced in a studio.

11) Frame Rate

The frame rate is the rate that your shutter cycles through opening and closing or when the sensor captures video in a 1 second period.

Common Frame Rate Examples: 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 60. The frame rate is expressed through frames per second (fps).

12) High Definition Media Interface (HDMI)

HDMI connectors digitally carry audio and HD video to a television. Make sure to get one of these if you want to work from a larger screen or you want to share your production!

13) J-Cut

J-cuts are used when editing footage to have the audio from the next shot precede the video. J-cut is not short for jump cut. The name actually comes from the shape a j-cut makes on your editing program’s timeline.

14) Jump Cut

Jump cuts make your video production look amateur because they are abrupt changes between sequential clips. The subject in a production that has jump cuts appears to jump across the screen from one spot to another. The shots don’t fit together and prove disruptive to your audience.

15) L-Cut

L-cuts are the exact opposite of j-cuts because the video is edited so that the video’s image changes from one shot to another but the initial shot’s audio continues into the next clip. Like a j-cut, an l-cut has its name because of its appearance in the timeline of your video marketing and editing software.

Tips to Have the Best Couple Wedding Photoshoot

Why Do A Couple Wedding Photoshoot?

Sharing a love story in an uncomplicated way seems like quite the complicated venture. There are so many intrinsic details assembling a tailored narrative around trust, comfort and passion. How do you share and memorialize that silly thing your partner does? How about that look they throw every so often when you delightfully trigger it? Those small moments mount to what makes the bigger picture for you now. Fortunately, a wedding photoshoot is known as a tried and true method for honest, vulnerable and compelling visual storytelling (as long as you find the right wedding photographer) and here’s a sneak peek about why:

1. Celebrate and indulge in special moments

Capturing special times allows for some kind of magic.  You can relive, celebrate, and indulge in a moment over and over again. Engagements, weddings, honeymoons, elopements and anniversaries are a few of the bigger ones which are absolutely important to catch for most. It’s equally as crucial to honour your relationship through more subtle moments. Shared, tender moments at home are just as important as dreamy beach engagements.

While Flytographer is not about wedding photography, there are a multitude of big days we do love to capture, like proposals, pre-weddings, engagements, honeymoons and anniversaries. Withstanding a pandemic together is another to add to the list and definitely one that should not be minimized!

2. Let creativity flow

Couple wedding photoshoots should never fall within specific criteria. You decide exactly how you want this all to be. Feel welcome to get as creative as you’d like, where the more unique you are, the better it becomes. Embrace quirky bits which make your relationship stand out. Allow for shared interests to fuel inspiration for wedding photoshoot ideas, like photoshoot location and couple poses.

Do you share a love for music? Sports? Film? Something entirely obscure? Involve an aspect of that within your photoshoot. Make it playful. Aesthetically, are you drawn to otherworldly elements? Vintage romantic? Bold, brave and bright colour palettes? Classic black and white? Find a way to feature it. Anything is possible.

Portrait wedding photography in and of itself is expansive, waiting for you to dream something up which fits for you and your love. There are no rules. Take advantage of the freedom of this art form and let it flow.

3. Consult With Professional Wedding Photograghy

Aspects of your photoshoot ideas such as lighting, posing, location and outfit ideas are much easier when navigating with our team and a professional wedding photographer by your side. They provide invaluable photography tips, especially timing suggestions and fool-proof colour schemes based on the original ideas you have for your photoshoot, so everything can pull through in an effortless way.

Choosing the right time

Timing is greatly dependent on location and season, but golden hour is a lovely time to begin or end. There’s such a specific, sweet hue when the sun rises or falls, adding an undeniably romantic mood. Beyond that fleeting span of time, natural light is preferential and for good reason: it’s honest and candid, even in the most formal wedding photoshoot. There are aspects that may limit your time frame, especially if you’re considering wedding photos: your wedding photographer is awarded the beautiful challenge of capturing charming moments throughout the event.

Styling guides

We have some great outfit ideas in our style guide, but it basically comes down to wearing whatever you feel good in. Feeling confident and loving exactly what you’ve put on is essential, as opposed to throwing on a suit just for the formality of it all. There is no need for the fashion police — anything is possible!

Err on the side of timeless, rather than trendy. Bring additional pieces of clothing if possible, in case you’d like to capture multiple vibes throughout your session. Having more options in the end never hurt anyone. What does hurt is restrictive or uncomfortable clothing. Opt for leaving those choices behind.

Consider complementary pieces between you and your partner, rather than opposing or clashing patterns. Solid and muted tones are best! Similar tones for both top and bottom pieces make sure there isn’t an emphasis on certain parts of the body if you don’t want to highlight anything.

Posing prompts

When it comes to wedding photography poses, it’s important to remember what feels most natural. That is definitely easy to forget when there’s a camera pointed in your face, but the most authentic and flattering shots will come when you and your partner feel good.

Even if the wedding photographer doesn’t initiate this, make sure everyone starts slow. Ask for an introduction where poses involve walking towards or away from the camera so that there is a gentle ease into the session. This allows for many more successful shots in the end.

Once everyone feels comfortable, more intimate posing could be involved such as holding hands, cuddling, kissing and intense eye contact. Again, easing into this will feel much more natural.

Experimenting with poses where you’re lying down instead of staying upright is great if your location allows for it. Think early 2000’s indie rom-com vibes, where your faces are side by side, cheek to cheek under pastel hues.

4. Capture meaningful locations together

Choosing a location, or possibly multiple locations, is its own thing to carefully consider. You and your partner should be captured in spaces that hold meaning for you both. These locations could be as iconic as San Francisco, where you sway around Baker Beach or along the Golden Gate bridge. Your cozy neighbourhood haunt, or an iconic backdrop in Los Angeles, could be just as stunning.

Wherever you’re drawn to, make sure it’s a place where you’ll feel comfortable. If anyone’s the shy type, choosing a less populated location to ensure you’ll have time to get comfortable in front of the camera is an aspect to consider. From there, you could move to more populated areas as nerves ease and the lens becomes second nature.

It’s possible your location is defined by an event, such as an engagement location or destination wedding. In this case, that job is done. Alternatively, it could be a place you have no prior emotional connection with. If you’re stuck on the wedding photoshoot location, a wedding photographer can help direct you to areas that will radiate the ambiance you are looking for. They will consider flattering, complementary and appropriate backdrops able to showcase your relationship.

5. Spending quality time together

Ultimately, couple wedding photoshoots should be fun and stress-free. While there could be quite a bit of planning involved, make sure to leave space for spontaneity and unplanned flirtation with your loved one.   Allowing this kind of space within the wedding photoshoot ensures the experience will be much more easygoing for everyone involved. In the end, it’s quality time together on its own. If it’s your first time seeking this kind of adventure out, try to be present and enjoy it to the fullest.

6. Hang your memories on the wall

After you’ve selected the cutest, most amazing photos out of the selection sent from the photoshoot, it’s important to showcase them in a way that brings more joy to your space.

Outside of sharing your love story with wedding photography on social media platforms you are actively engaged with, there is still an inherent charm with physical displays of affection — meaning, physically displaying your memories, your very own fine art, on the wall. There are definitely many ways to do this. Though the classic frame on the wall is a wonderful idea, we’ve evolved past it as the only option. We are now living in the age of LED photo lamps or frames, three-dimensional prints on geometrical shapes, and where basically any household object can be custom printed on — coffee in your very own photo mug, anyone?

Ready to capture your love story?

We have immensely talented professional photographers located in over 350 locations around the world who are ready to help you achieve the perfect couple wedding photoshoot with your partner. Booking is just a click away, where our team helps you to choose the right wedding photographer and navigate through our seamless process following the booking. Are you ready to hire an amazing local wedding photographer and capture your love?
