Bridal Prep
The morning of a wedding is filled with anticipation and excitement. I focus on capturing the bride and groom as they prepare, surrounded by friends and family. It’s the little details – the dress hanging, the shoes, the laughter and nerves – that set the tone for the day. Whether it’s laughing with the girls, tears over a handwritten note or a deep breath to keep composed, all of these set the tone for your film and big day.
The Emotional First Look
There’s something incredibly special about the first look. Whether it’s the couple seeing each other for the first time or a parent’s tearful pride, these moments are pure emotion. Capturing these genuine reactions is key to adding depth to the wedding story. I’ve seen first looks where bridesmaids are in tears, or dad can’t quite find the words to say how beautiful the bride looks, all are equally magic.
The Iconic Aisle Walk
The walk down the aisle is a highlight of the day. Here at Modus Films we aim to capture the anticipation, the emotions of the groom, and the reactions of the guests. This moment is rich with symbolism and emotion, making it a must-have in any wedding video.

Another trending TikTok video type is the “day in the life” video. These follow someone (either someone on your team or the business owner for a small business) throughout their day-to-day tasks and activities, especially how it relates back to their business.
Here’s an example of a bakery owner sharing what a day in her life looks like. She creates these videos multiple times a week and her followers enjoy being able to watch as she grows her business.
This trend can be emulated in a number of different ways. Consider having one team member take over your TikTok account each week and walk followers through what their day-to-day job and work load looks like. Technical video parameters: All three platforms have the same aspect ratio of 9:16, the resolution is 1920×1080 px, and the video file format is either MOV or MP4.
Algorithm: While each platform has its own algorithm, each of these algorithms shares the same principle. Each one detects what type of videos users like and pushes out more videos like that on their explore pages.
Vertical videos: All three platforms prefer vertical videos that take up full screen and offer a full-screen immersive experience for users.
Editing: All three platforms have a built-in video editor that allows content creators to quickly film, or upload clips, add sound from music and sound library, and edit them using a library of filters before posting.
Common features: All three platforms have common features that allow users and content creators to interact such as comments, likes, shares, subtitles, hashtags, account tagging, and following other users.
YouTube Shorts vs TikTok: Pros and cons
To start, let’s first compare YouTube Shorts vs. TikTok. First, let’s take a look at the audience split for each platform. TikTok has a younger audience, with the majority of users being between the ages of 19 and 25. While YouTube’s audience is a bit older, with the majority of users being between the ages of 26 and 32.
Another difference in the demographics of these two platforms is that there are more male users on YouTube. TikTok on the other hand has more female users. So, if your target audience is primarily male, you might be better off using YouTube Shorts than TikTok.
One advantage that YouTube Shorts have over TikTok is the monetization options. Yes, TikTok has many different ways to allow TiKTok creators to make money with TikTok. The app has the Creator Fund and allows for virtual gifts during TikTok Lives. But YouTube makes earning money much more lucrative.
YouTube Shorts are a great way for creators to attract new audiences to their channels where they can monetize their videos with ads, and YouTube sponsorships. Plus, in 2023 YouTube introduced a Shorts Fund that allows creators to earn money from the views of the ads that appear in between Shorts.
One area where YouTube Shorts are lagging behind TikTok is shopping links. YouTube Shorts don’t allow creators to add shopping links directly to their videos, which can limit a lot of promotion potential.
And lastly, YouTube Shorts only allow 60-second videos while TikTok allows up to 10 minutes. Longer videos on TikTok allow for more opportunities to grab people’s attention and connect with your audience.
Reels vs TikTok: Pros and cons
Now, let’s look into Instagram/Facebook Reels versus TikTok. Instagram Reels have been compared to TikTok. And many creators on the apps recycle video content from one platform to another. But there is a slight difference between the two platforms, its users, and what type of content does better.
So, first off, let’s compare the audiences. TikTok has a younger audience, mainly Gen Z, with the majority of the users falling between the ages of 19 and 25. Instagram and Facebook both have the majority of their users between the ages of 26 and 32. But Instagram also has a large group of users between the ages of 19 and 25. Placing it not far behind TikTok.
Now, when it comes to gender, Facebook has more male users. While TikTok has more female users and Instagram has an even split between male and female users. This goes to show that Instagram works best for brands that have both females and males as their target audiences. And it makes TikTok the most versatile platform out of the three.
If we compare features between these three platforms, then TikTok has a huge advantage. First of all, it has a private video productionoption whereas all videos posted on Facebook Reels or Instagram Reels are public.
TikTok also has duet and stitch features which allow content creators and users to interact with each other’s videos on a whole new level. Instagram and Facebook Reels lack some of these technical capabilities. This can be a drawback for creators really looking to engage with their audience and other creators.
Another thing to consider is the video length. Facebook Reels allow 60-second videos, Instagram Reels 90-second videos and TikTok allows up to 10-minute long videos. If your audience likes short, snappy video production, then Facebook or Instagram Reels are a great option. But if you want more options when it comes to social media video length, then TikTok is the winner.
Something else to consider is the in-app experience of each app. TikTok is wonderful for everything related to video. The only-video option allows creators to only focus on one type of content which is great if you love creating videos on social media.
Both Facebook and Instagram offer quite a bit when it comes to the type of content you can post. With Instagram, you have your Reels tab where your video content lives. And then you also have your feed, where videos or pictures can be. Plus, there are Instagram Stories.
The same goes for Facebook. You can create video content for Facebook Reals or Facebook Stories, or you can create static content for your feed. You have plenty of options and while the video is the preferred option by many users, there are still plenty of people who enjoy static posts.

In order for an ad to be successful, it’s got to do two things: engage and persuade. Your videos first eight seconds are its best chance at catching attention before your user moves on to their next piece of content. Then, whatever remaining time your video’s got left is your opportunity to persuade your user toward purchase. Especially on sites where tons of ads are shown, ad blindness quickly takes over. On your Facebook Feed, video content ads are only watched for an average of 5.7 seconds.
Basically, if you’re not capturing your audience in your video’s first eight seconds, you aren’t capturing them at all.
How to Nail Your Video’s First 8 Seconds
You’re nervous. Eight seconds isn’t long and communicating your brand message in 30 seconds is hard enough – how do you boil down everything you want to say into just eight seconds?
Well, for starters, you don’t. Those first eight seconds are crucial, but don’t take that to mean you have to say it all and make it stick in just that short amount of time. Instead, focus on what’ll really grab your audience’s attention in the quickest and most efficient way possible.
Luckily, we’ve got a little experience making videos. We’ve got a few handy tips we use time and time again to nail those first eye-catching seconds.
1. Focus on the visuals.
You’ve only got a few seconds, so before thinking about your script or your tagline or your voiceover, focus on the one thing that can actually make a big impact fast: your visuals.
Whatever your video content is about, it’s got to do one big thing – stop your audience from scrolling. Use bright colors, movement, close-ups, happy faces, and more to surprise and shock your viewer so they literally stop scrolling and start watching. Once you know you’ve got their attention, you can give your message more focus.
2. Boil down what you offer into one sentence.
Your video can obviously be longer than one single sentence, but boiling down your brand mission or product/service offering into one clear and direct sentence is a great exercise. Not only does it make for a more focused video, but if you struggle to get it down that short, it could be a sign that your mission needs some refining.
Here are a few questions you can answer to boil down your message in a short and succinct way.
What’s the one thing you want your audience to remember about you?
How does your product or service solve a problem for your viewer?
What does your product or service do?
How is what you offer any different than what’s offered by your direct competition?
What do your best customers love about your brand?
3. Use text to communicate, not sound!
Remember, people scroll their feeds and their browsers with the sound off. Don’t expect people to ever stop, tap or click on your video content, listen to the audio, and then decide whether or not they’re interested.
Don’t get us wrong – sound is a crucial element of any video. But don’t rely on sound solely to get your message across, because users don’t have the time to pay attention to what your video is saying. Instead, tell them what they can’t hear with captions, text, or other informative word graphics. Not only do graphics and text grab a user’s attention (when’s the last time you looked at a word without reading it?), but they’re an effective way to give your audience more information in a more memorable way.
4. Don’t forget effects.
Effects are a great way to captivate, especially when you don’t have the biggest budget for actors, locations, creative setup, and more. With the right video effects, you can use a simple video, even stock footage or text-only videos, to create a beautiful and engaging piece of content that’ll help you attract the attention you deserve.

You should always do as much research as possible. Watch and read previous interviews that are similar subject to yours. If possible read previous interviews from the subject you plan to interview and build your questions/focus from what you think worked.
Formulate Your Interview Questions
Prepare at least 20 to 30 questions per 30 minute interview. This will enable you to ask questions that suit where the conversation is going. Be ready to ask impromptu questions during the interview. The key is to get the information that you outlined in your goals. Remember, the more comfortable your interviewee, the better the chance of them opening up.
First, start by asking simple questions. Asking simple questions will make your interviewee feel at ease.
A good idea is to get a little background on the subject. You can ask your interviewee from where he or she is from and build in from there. These might seem like silly questions that won’t interest your viewer. However, you can always edit them out later. Their purpose is to relax the interviewee and make them feel comfortable in front of the camera to create the best video content.
A person tends to forget the tension after several minutes when the mood is light. When you see that he or she is at ease, you can ask the hard questions related to your topic.
Look for a willing guest for the interview
If you are doing street interviews, you might find that getting participants for an interview is not easy.
